General Therapy FAQs
-
How do I know if therapy is right for me?
People come to therapy for many reasons — stress, anxiety, low mood, relationship issues, life transitions, or simply wanting a safe space to reflect and grow. Sometimes, there’s no big reason - just a quiet sense that something feels off.
-
What can I expect in the first session?
Your first session is a space to discuss your concerns, goals, and expectations. I will explain the process, ask about history and together we’ll decide how to move forward. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask me anything you’d like regarding therapy.
-
How long does therapy usually last?
The number of sessions varies depending on your needs. Some clients come for short-term support (8-12 sessions), while others prefer longer-term work, depending on your goals. This will be discussed collaboratively when you begin.
-
How long is each session?
Therapy sessions are usually 60 minutes.
-
Do you offer both online and in-person sessions?
Yes. You can choose between online therapy (via secure video platform) or in-person sessions at the clinic, located in Juhu, Mumbai.
-
What approach do you use in therapy?
My practice is integrative and evidence-based, drawing on person-centred, CBT, relational and trauma-informed ways of working. Therapy is always tailored to your needs.
Booking & Payments
-
How do I book a session?
You can book your session directly through the website and schedule an in-person or online appointment. You can also reach out via the contact form, email, or WhatsApp. For new and existing clients, we kindly request that payment is made at least 48 hours before your session to confirm the slot.
-
What are your fees?
Fees vary depending on the service (individual therapy, couples therapy, supervision, groups, etc.). You can find the current fee structure on the services tab, and it will also be shared with you when you enquire.
-
Do you offer reduced fees?
Yes. A limited number of sliding scale or concession slots may be available for clients with financial constraints. Please ask during your enquiry.
-
What payment methods do you accept?
Payments can be made via bank transfer or UPI.
-
Is therapy covered by insurance?
Currently, most insurance providers in India do not cover counselling psychology sessions. Please check directly with your provider.
Cancellations, Rescheduling & Missed Sessions
-
What if I cancel more than 24 hours before my session?
Your payment will either be carried forward to the next session or refunded in full, depending on what you prefer.
-
What if I miss or don’t show up for a confirmed session?
If you miss your appointment, full session charges will still apply, as the slot was reserved for you.
-
How long will it take to get a refund?
Refunds (when applicable) are processed within 5 business days.
Confidentiality & Ethics
-
Is everything I share in therapy confidential?
Yes, therapy is a confidential space.
What you share stays between you and your therapist. The only exceptions to this are when there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, when there are concerns about the safety of a child or vulnerable person, or if disclosure is legally required. These limits will be explained clearly before therapy begins.
-
How is my personal data stored?
Your information (name, contact details, emergency contact, etc.) is securely stored in password-protected files and devices. Access is limited to myself and the administrative team.
-
Who regulates your practice?
As a counselling psychologist, trained in the UK I adhere to the ethical guidelines and professional standards of HCPC and BPS.
Emergencies
-
Can I contact you in an emergency?
Sadly, I cannot provide emergency interventions between sessions. If you are in crisis, please contact local emergency services or a mental health helpline immediately.
-
What should I do if I’m struggling between sessions?
For administrative questions (rescheduling, payments, etc.), you may contact me via email/WhatsApp. For therapeutic concerns and support, we’ll work through them in your next scheduled session — part of therapy is building skills and strategies together so you feel more equipped to cope between sessions.
